I love color!  As a child, my crayon box was one of my favorite possessions.  I loved the giant boxes that had a multitude of various colors (that is, before my brother insisted on breaking them all in half!).  I loved stroking those on a piece of paper and wondering why they called one blue-green and the other green-blue.  However, after I colored with each, it became quite evident that there was indeed a distinct difference between the two.  In fact, as a professional interior designer I now know that there is an entire spectrum of blues… And at the moment, I am absolutely living and decorating  in a lovely “blue haze”!

First, let’s consider blue in general.  Blue can be one of the most peaceful, soothing colors for a room.  Blue is classic and is elegant.  It pairs well with a few colors that are winners every time.  It also mixes well with other shades of blue. Two designers that I admire, who can really “do blue,” are Miles Redd and Bunny Williams. Ralph Lauren is also a master of blue.

Blue always works well with white.  It is classic and crisp.
