Sarah Jessica Parker from “Sex in the City,” said it best when describing her boyfriend “BIG” by telling her girlfriends to “Go Big or Go Home!” In my interior design work, I can’t begin to tell you how often I use over scaled pieces to create impact and drama. Size has a way of putting everything into perspective!
If you have a small room, try a medium tone intensity for color or a dark bold color and then fill the space with oversized furniture and the room will seem bigger! I know it doesn’t sound possible, but it is so true!
In this living room that is still “in the works,” notice how the huge 60″ light fixture by Curry & Co., brings the ceiling down into the room and adds a wowy bit of drama that is both beautiful and impactful.
Big accessories make a statement and require less effort. Notice how this large pedestal and 39″ tall vase fills the space ever so nicely and yet, required little effort!Notice the large vase and the pedestal in corner are two big accessories that make a statement!
Try adding a splash of “huge” in your space and give it a second sink in, then, viola, you will have instant impact and distinctive drama!
Please send me pictures of what large pieces you have used or tell me how you have incorporated big into your own spaces to prove this design theory..
Live inspired and stay fabulous!!
