Hey y’all! Julie here from the KHI Design Team back with some ‘Jules’ Jewels’ how we can live on the edge while still staying true to southern design. I am so loving chandeliers right now (and all the time, actually!). As Kimberly would say, they can take any room from “drab to fab” with the flip of a switch – literally!
Kimberly Grigg is known for her unexpected design choices and picking the right chandelier for a space is no exception.
Don’t get me wrong, chandeliers can still be VERY traditional while still being elegant and sophisticated. Take this room for example…This is a very traditional southern dining room. The crystal chandelier just takes those elegant and sophisticated qualities up a notch.
Some chandelier choices require a bit more bravery and what I have seen in my experience working with Kimberly, is that the more a client trusts her, the more daring the designs become. And, they ALWAYS pay off! It is literally a thrill to do an installation with Kimberly with a piece like an amazing chandelier that you just know the will completely exceed the clients expectations and imagination on what they thought could be possible with their room.
How to WOW with a Chandelier
- A WOW chandelier brings all other elements in that room “up a notch”. That one element can make your whole room look more polished. There is a bit of an “art” if you will to something called high and low dressing. Celebrities do it all the time – like when they take a plain white t-shirt and pair it with a ball gown and they look like they just stepped off the runway. It is the same thing with a chandelier. You could choose to be very simplistic with your design choices or colors for the room and then put a chandelier in there and VIOLA! The room looks like it belongs on the cover of a magazine.
- Kimberly just wrote about how she manages to live beautifully even while raising six children in her home. I also have a toddler running around my home and this is a way to have something beautiful but it’s high and safely out of reach from small hands.
- All WOW chandeliers do not have to be colorful, as we have seen with the KHI Designs we have shown you here. A WOW chandelier doesn’t have to be expensive. It just has to capture your attention. Leave an impression. Be dramatic. Be inspiring.
