Does the thought of decorating your home for the fall season…. Followed by RE-decorating it for Christmas…. make you feel a little frazzled?! If so, you are NOT alone! We would all love to click our ruby red slippers together – and voila! – the house is magically decorated for Halloween and Thanksgiving! And then we gracefully wave our magic wands – and Bippity Boppity Boo! – the fall decorations are gone and instantly replaced with red and green decor! However, the unfortunate reality is that we do not have any ruby slippers or magic wands to assist with these tasks. If your life is anything like mine, the months of October through December are generally packed full of a million things to accomplish in record time. Holiday decorating is usually executed with a huff and grumble, thinking all the while of the other 999,999 things still gracing my list of things to do. If this scenario sounds like you, I have come up with my top 5 places to decorate for the holidays that make the biggest impact on time invested. In fact, showcasing a few key areas of your home – rather than inserting holiday decorations in every nook and cranny – often makes your select decorations stand out and feel much more special.
MY TOP 5 HIGH IMPACT PLACES TO DECORATE FOR THE HOLIDAYS:
1. THE FRONT DOOR
The front door is the first thing that guests see when they arrive at your home… Or even just drive by. If you decorate nothing else for the holidays, let it be your front door. You can buy a pre-made wreath, make your own, or get creative with you what you use to adorn your front door. Whether small or elaborate, a front door decorated for the holidays is certain to bring you the most happiness from your time invested.
2. THE FOYER
If your guests come no further than the front door, they will still catch a glimpse of your foyer. The foyer is the area that welcomes others into your home, so make the most of it by giving it a bit of holiday pizzazz!
3. THE MANTLE
If you have a fireplace in your home, the mantle is sure to be a focal point of the room and a location that should showcase your finest holiday treasures.
4. THE COFFEE TABLE
A coffee table often centers the entire room, so adorning it with holiday decor is a natural choice.
5. DINING TABLE
Wherever people sit to eat is sure to be a place where friends and family gather. Give them something festive to look at and enjoy while they are there!
So, remember, if you decorate these five key areas, you will see that your home maintains its holiday charm without the need to conjure up any magical assistance from your wand or ruby slippers!
