Purple is symbolic of royalty, nobility, and romance. The combination of hot red and cool blue create the intrigue of this magnificent color. Depending upon the shade you choose, purple can arrive in many varieties, some of which include lavender, eggplant, plum, lilac, royal, and aubergine.
In terms of interior design, purple is actually quite lovely. However, purple is rarely considered as a truly viable option, since it is commonly believed that it does not combine well with other colors. In reality, purple actually marries well with a variety of other lively and neutral colors!
Take a look at a few purple-neutral combinations….
With beige….
With gray…..
With black & white….
With chocolate-brown…..
But what about the more vibrant colors in the rainbow? Does purple blend with any of those? The answer is…. YES! Take a look at some of the 2011 fashion runways, along with the interior design spaces that closely resemble their color combinations….
TURQUOISE!
RED!
ORANGE!
….. AND MANY MORE (including yellow-gold, which is one of my favorites!)….
So, the next time you think that purple is just for royalty, why not consider adding some to your own castle? What do you think about the color purple in interior design? Post a comment with your ideas and thoughts!
