“It’s So Fabulous!” DESIGN PHOTO of the Week: A few weeks ago, I featured a book by Jan Showers, called Glamorous Rooms. As chance would have it, when I attended the Design Bloggers Conference in Los Angeles a few weeks ago, Jan Showers was actually one of the featured speakers! She gave an informative and entertaining talk about her decorating philosophies, along with a slideshow of some of her favorite rooms designs. One of the rooms she showed had the most fabulous acid green, leather chairs purchased from a Paris flea market, and I have not stopped thinking about them ever since!  I searched online, and lo and behold, I found two photos of the room from her slideshow! The walls are lacquered in “Hail Navy”, according to Jan, and the window treatments are made in the same color, providing a soothing, cocoon-like feel to the space.

“It’s So Fabulous!” ORGANIZATION TIP of the Week: If you are a busy Mom with tons of photos of your children (or ANYONE with lots of pictures!) and no good way to organize or store them, this is a fabulous tip for you!

Separate all of your photos by occasion, and then by year. Scan the pictures into your computer, and then burn them onto labeled CD’s. Once you have them all done, insert them into a yearly filing system, where you can easily locate photos you need to access at a later date. Not only does this system keep your photos orderly, but it also creates back-up files for your originals, in case they are ever lost or damaged.

“It’s So Fabulous!” COCKTAIL HOUR TRIVIA of the Week: Adam Japco, of WineZag blog, was the organizer and “chief” of the same Design Blogger Conference I attended a few weeks ago.  As a wine enthusiast, he shared some interesting knowledge about “Grower Champagnes“. We even got a sampling of one the first morning, and it was absolutely tasty!

So, what is so unique about Grower Champagnes? Most large champagne houses combine grapes from multiple vineyards (as many as 88!) to produce their sparkling wines. However, Grower Champagnes, account for much smaller market share, since the grapes used to produce them are all sourced from a single location, typically based around a particular village.  Today there are over 19,000 independent growers in the Champagne region, but only 5,000 of them produce their own sparkling wine. Grower Champagnes can be identified on their wine label by their marking initials of RM (meaning Récoltant-Manipulant).
