THE SMALLEST CLIENT
AT LAST, we meet… to design her space
With suppressed enthusiasm on her face.
Impressed she is not… But I think SHE is GREAT,
And to prove my talent, I cannot wait!
Fabric, trim, and rods make drapes…
Install them…. HURRY!…. Don’t be late!
Not the loveseat, just the chair….
Pick it up, and move it there!
Shove that cabinet through the door.
Be careful not to scratch the floor!
Move it faster… nail and fluff.
This client SURELY shall be tough!
The sweat is forming on my brow.
She’s almost home now…. HOLY COW!
Here she comes…. I’m her greatest fan!
To please her taste, I hope I can.
She’s a mere eleven – and four feet tall,
But walks with purpose down the hall.
With a single glance she absorbs the space,
And a giant smile warms her face.
“I love it, Mom! You’re the best!”
My SMALLEST CLIENT is impressed!
This poem is dedicated to my eleven-year-old daughter, Grayanna, with whom it took me over a month to schedule an appointment!? HA! Apparently, her schedule is FAR too busy to make time to discuss such things as redesigning her room with her dear old Mom! And yes, I was actually a tiny bit nervous today to show her my new design plan… how FUNNY is that?! Go figure!
I will be sharing before-and-after photos of her bedroom project as soon as we get the wheels in motion. Stay tuned!
