My Secret Weapons for Holiday Decorating: Part 1

Last year I choked for the holidays!  I was very busy, so I thought it would be okay to “cheat” just a bit on my holiday décor.  I opted for a faux tree – And WOW! – was I disappointed!  Sorry, guys – Some of you may “boo” me for saying this! EEK! -But I [...]

  • I agree 100%. I’m a “real” tree kind of girl, too! Nothing beats how wonderful it makes my home smell. The only down side to me is that the tree can’t be enjoyed as long as an artificial one, because mine just starts to dry out after about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. Some, for example, put their trees up the day after Thanksgiving Day. Well I’d love to do this, because it takes me about 2-3 days to get the tree fully dressed. However, I don’t think my real tree would last this long. I’ve tried all the suggestions (such as adding Sprite to the water, checking and adding fresh water as needed, even the store bought product to extend tree life). If anyone has any other suggestions, I’d love to try some of them. Thanks for this great post, Kimberly.

  • Thanks, Kimberly–I need all the shortcuts you have in your repetoire! Christmas really gets away with me.

I am looking for different photo examples of using ribbon to hang pictures in my dining room for the holidays. I have three Norman Rockwell prints in golden frames that I would like to showcase on one wall next to one another. Can you help?

Moody Blues (Part 1): Pairing Blue With Color

I love color!  As a child, my crayon box was one of my favorite possessions.  I loved the giant boxes that had a multitude of various colors (that is, before my brother insisted on breaking them all in half!).  I loved stroking those on a piece of paper and wondering why they called one blue-green and [...]

The New Neutrals of Interior Design

Do you think neutral is beige or some form of it?  As a newly designated True Colour Expert, and as a design professional who has been choosing color for over 20 years, I have a theory about neutrals that happens to be, as far as I can tell, unique to me.  [...]

  • I absolutely agree! Aren’t you tired of beige? I sure am. I was tired of it years ago. I use silver sage, pink, warm grey called “elephant ears”, and even deep dark browns. Love the article! Will share with everyone!!!
