As is the case with most headstrong women, I consider myself to be the “Queen of my Castle” … althooooough…. I must admit that the thought of living in an ACTUAL castle has crossed my mind a time or twenty! So, as I was perusing the webpages of Sotheby’s International Real Estate to take a look at all of my possible castle “options” (from the blog site of fellow blogger, CocoCozy), I noticed a room that I immediately recognized from one of the listings! Before I tell you which room it is, let’s see if you can dig back in your 2009 memories and figure it out.
This expansive, Upper East Side, Manhattan limestone mansion encompasses a whopping 21,000 square feet! The asking price for this neo-Italian Renaissance townhouse is a mere $50,000,000. (Yea, sure… no prob… I will take that for Christmas, please!). A few of the impressive attributes of this “castle” include five floors of living space, hand-carved moldings, a marble staircase, and a private elevator. Yes…. Fabulous, indeeeeeed!
So, take a look at these photos and see if you can pick out the room that was featured in a 2009 issue of House Beautiful (That was a hint!)…
Ok, could anyone pick out the room? Here are a couple more hints…
1. Look for the red egg chair!
2. The room was created by one of my all-time favorite designer inspirations!
GIVE UP?! It’s the very last photo shown above. The room was featured on the 2009 cover of House Beautiful magazine. It was created by the talented and fabulous Bunny Williams! (To read more about her, click on this recent interview link from fellow my blogger, Ronda Carmen of All The Best.)
Here are more House Beautiful photos of Bunny William’s amazing All-In-One room….
The red egg chair caused quite a stir in the design world, with mixed reviews of both extremes. Click on this link to The Skirted Round Table to hear a podcast about Bunny’s colorful room. Here are some additional photos from their blog post….
What do YOU think? Do you like the room and her bright red egg chair? How about the mansion for sale? How would you like to decorate THAT for Christmas?
NOW, GO HAVE AN “It’s So Fabulous!” DAY!
