I know that I often give you TOP 5 lists of things that I recommend or tips that you can use to “fablitize” your own home. However, today’s blog is devoted in its entirety to my very favorite custom wallcoverings created by de Gournay. Now granted, these custom-made treasures are not for the faint of heart or small of wallet, but hey, we can still dream, right?
The founder of the English company, Claud Gurney, started out exclusively creating hand-painted Chinoiserie, or Chinese, designs from 18th and 19th century inspiration. Since then, the company has expanded to also include French 19th Century Papier Peints Panoramiques, as well as Japanese & Korean, and Eclectic designs. In addition, de Gournay also creates custom-painted fabrics, blinds, and porcelains to complement their wallcoverings.
The rumored cost to cover an average-sized room in de Gournay hand-painted wallpaper? Around $12,000! WOW! However, if your budget allows for it, these wallcoverings are absolutely worth every penny! If it makes you feel any better, it IS possible to steam the paper off and reuse it in a new home if you ever decide to move!
