T.G.I.F. “Thank Goodness It’s So Fabulous!

THIS FABULOUS FRIDAY, I HAVE FOUND…

Myrtle Beach by Benjamin Moore

"Myrtle Beach" by Benjamin Moore

“It’s So Fabulous!” DESIGN FIND of the Week: This week’s design find of the week is actually a PAINT COLOR! Now, since I have been talking incessantly all week about the amazingggg color on my foyer walls, I will spare mentioning my delicious “Rhine River” by Benjamin Moore… again! However, I DO want to tout another paint color that I found completely by surprise this week! While happily browsing the Benjamin Moore paint wheel last Sunday afternoon (By the way, ONLY a designer could find this activity entertaining!) – LOW and BEHOLD! – there staring back at me was a paint chip that read “Myrtle Beach”!!!! (And for anyone who does not already know this…. I LIVE in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!)  It is  a shade of coral and is actually QUITE fabulous! So, in honor of my beachy hometown, be sure to consider this lovely shade the next time you find yourself in search of a “perky”, yet still neutral, wall color!

“It’s So Fabulous!” ARTWORK of the Week: Although I have not yet found the perfect destination for it on my walls, I purchased this painting several months ago, and I am still just so in love with it! I wanted to share its uniqueness with you today and hear your opinions and insights about it. The artwork actually has a “pleasantly haunted” feeling, when you look upon the face of this artist in the painting. It is my understanding that this painting was created near the end of his life, thus the “hollowed” look that so clearly conveys in his features. The portrait was painted in Cannes in 1966, and it is signed by the French artist “A. Lauran” on the back. However, I also know he went by the first name “Jacques” which is similar to the way in which Southerners nickname everyone Bubba or Jack! This painting is one of my absolute favorites of all that I own, and the colors are perfectly blended to create a “mood”. So, what do you think…. IS THIS PAINTING FAB OR DRAB? Would love to hear from you!

“It’s So Fabulous!” CHARITABLE TIDBIT of the Week: As you know, I have been working diligently at highlighting fifty great “causes” or “charitable truths” during this next year…. one a week. One thing that has continued to to pop into my head is “giving anonymously”. It is true that being recognized for charitable efforts or contributions may bring feelings of satisfaction all their own. However, I have learned through the years that giving without expecting to receive anything at all in return – not even praise from others! -somehow feels the very best! Suddenly, you realize that you have contributed your time and efforts for truly unselfish motivations…. And there is NOTHING that beats that kind of fulfilled!

“It’s So Fabulous!” DRINK RECIPE of the Week: My dear friend, Susan, whose “blue paint color” quote I used in a blog this week, also shared her husband’s signature cocktail recipe with me! I’m so excited to learn all the ingredients for myself…. and to pass them along to all of you readers! Here is the delicious, “must try” concoction:

Maybe a pitcher of "Rick's Painkillers" cocktails would prevent us from just wanting to stick our heads in the sand sometimes!

RICK’S PAINKILLERS

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 can Coco Lopez Cream of Coconut Milk Lite

8 oz  Myers Dark Rum

4 oz Pineapple Juice

4 oz Orange Juice

2 cups of ICE

DIRECTIONS:

Mix well in blender. Freezes well! NOW, ENJOYYY!

“It’s So Fabulous!” QUOTE of the Week:

    Hey, Kimberly,

I think the painting is FAB!I LOVE painterly paintings, where the paint strokes themselves do the work of conveying the emotions of the painter. It looks like the flesh tones & the blue might go well with the “Myrtle Beach” and “Rhine River” paint colors!

So true about the paint strokes conveying emotion! That’s one of the things I love most about this painting! Great observation about the paint colors matching, Summer!
